TEEN / COLLEGE LEVEL COURSES & EVENTS

We have courses, programs and retreats structured for the young as well – from middle school, to teens, to college level – if they have a body, they qualify to learn mind-blowing truths about God and the gift they’ve been given. Our TOB for Middle School Retreat has made profound differences in young lives in just a day. For High School teens, this experience happens at the Made for More Retreat. The profound change comes through best in their own words.

WORDS FROM THE HEART

Actual quotes from those who have attended Ruah Woods classes and events…

“As a teen I am constantly bombarded with the idea of casual sex and that I should have sex whenever I feel ‘ready.’ Movies, TV, social media, music, friends' conversations, novels, even political ads — everyone is discussing sex and my ‘right’ to have it. But not one of them ever tells me the truth — that waiting means saving myself for something really important. I am looking forward to learning more about myself through Theology of the Body this school year, and I feel blessed that my classmates will also experience its powerful vision and support. Thanks to the Diocese of Covington and Ruah Woods.”
– Senior at Notre Dame Academy

“I want to thank you for the beautiful experience that my two girls had at Camp Echo. One of my daughters often verbally expressed her support for homosexual so-called marriage. Now she understands the purpose that God has designed for the human body and no longer supports homosexual unions. You empowered her with the truth. Her heart has been reset. She still desires to love the homosexual, but now in the truth, for their own sake...and the TRUTH has set her free! Thank you for reaching her heart with the truth IN the love of Jesus Christ.”
– mother of a Camp Echo attendee

“Thank you so much for this camp. I am a dude and so I am not very good at explaining feelings but…. I am so ready to change and be different. This is closer than I have ever felt with God. I just wanted to say thank you for this.”
– TOB for Teens attendee

“I know how to pray for more than just the feeling. With this awesome experience, I am ready to live a life as Christ's daughter, I am prepared for the journey to get to heaven, No matter what that has in store for me! I wouldn't take it back for the world, This retreat was truly the best thing that has ever happened to me, I cannot thank you all enough! But I will be praying for all of you! ‘Thanks for giving me the encouragement I needed to make the jump into Gods everlasting love.’ That's what I'm screaming!"
– TOB for Teens attendee

In a recent grade school class, the topic for the day was formation for the priesthood. We watched a video about “A Day in the Life of a Seminarian,” talked about the 4 Pillars of Formation, and did a timeline activity to show the number of years of study and preparation required before ordination to the priesthood. Then we opened up the floor for questions. The students had many! However, my favorite question came from Ben, a bright young man who sits in the back row. He asked: “If you go to seminary, do you have to take Theology of the Body again?” He was informed that it is not a requirement to take Theology of the Body in seminary, but that Mount St. Mary’s does offer it as an option for their seminarians, at an adult level that would look a little different than the middle school presentations we did. This did not deter him one bit. With a grin on his face, he threw his fist in the air and let out a triumphant “Yes!” How good it is to know that our future seminarians are entering their discernment equipped with the knowledge of their identity as sons of God, what true love is, and an understanding of their call to make a total gift of themselves in love through their vocation. Praise God!
– Ruah Woods Instructor

“My life has profoundly changed in recent weeks in no small part to what I have learned at Ruah Woods and I thank God immensely for the TOB and the people I have met through the classes. Someday I will tell you exactly how all of this has impacted my life. But, for now, let me just say, ‘God is SO good!!!’”
